The aim of this project is developing new sonorities for tenor saxophone and electronics with Andean music influences, specifically from the Feast of La Tirana in northern Chile. The term kirki means action of singing and dancing in Aymara language, the main indigenous community of that zone.
We started our rehearsals in 2013 and recorded six tracks at Trevor Jones Recording Studio, University of York. In 2014 we have been regularly performing in venues and festivals in Yorkshire. Our performances include audiovisual material from the field research done in the Feast of La Tirana 2012.
